October is Safety Awareness Month.  We went to Home Depot the first Saturday to learn about safety.  There was a fire truck and ambulance there, but unfortunately there was an emergency and they had to be called away. 

    I really appreciate the quality of the crafts that Home Depot offers.  My youngest daughter got a chance to use a hammer on a wooden firetruck she made with the help of her Dad.

     My youngest daughter is a hands on type child. She loves her father's tools.  However, it makes us nervous to see her with the screwdrivers, hammers, nails, etc. that she takes from his toolbox.  So for Christmas we got her a child's wood making kit.  We thought it was a good idea for her to make projects designed for kids.  The kit was for two boats, but to our dismay, they were not made of real wood and the screws were made of plastic. This was completed within two hours and it just did not challenge her.
    I learned from another parent that Home Depot offers good crafts the first Saturday of each month.  I started taking her there and I am very pleased with what they offer. The store has high quality crafts made of solid wood. Best of all, it give her a chance to work with her beloved tools.  An added benefit is that my oldest daughter, to my surprise likes it too.
