When I was growing up, I always noticed the different ways people gardened in limited space. I particularly noticed my great aunt who is still living today. I always loved talking to her and listening to her stories about her life. She was married during the Great Depression, widowed with two young children with the youngest being five years old at the time of her husband's passing. My aunt always had a small vegetable garden and fascinating container gardens. I can remember seeing sweet potatoes growing in aluminum washtubs. No doubt, a life of having to make do helped her use what she had to grow vegetables. Well, today she is ninety-seven years old but within the past three or four years she has stopped gardening because of a hip injury and age. It is to this pioneer and strong woman I dedicate this section, Creative Garden of the Week , to my Great Aunt Dauthula. Creative Garden of the Week - Week 4Old tires are recycled as gardening beds.

a building. Now fresh herbs for cooking can be cut as needed.

This is an interesting way to grow lettuces and flowers (pansies), and yes
pansies are edible. The whole flower can be eaten, but make sure they are
flowers grown just for eating or grown organically.
