Staking tomatoes and green beans. Last year I tied the tomato and green bean plants to the stakes with some bright orange plastic line I found in the garage. I like the contrast it made against the green plants. But my spouse asked sweetly if I could not use it because it was weed eater cord and it was kind of expensive. Oophs! Time slipped by and the green beans grew much faster than I expected after I added Scott’s gardening soil a few weeks ago to the existing soil. Because I had not staked the beans, the vines grew around the tomatoes vines. A fine little jumble I had gotten myself into. I went to Home Depot and purchased Velcro plant ties. I had never heard of it before but it looked like it would work. I worked as quickly as possible. In my haste I didn’t read the instructions clearly printed on back of the package. I tied the tape instead of wrapping it. Tied incorrectly |
AuthorWelcome to my gardening blog. My father passed to me a love for gardening. I wanted to share this passion with my girls, so they would know the origin of their food. (not the local grocery store). So, I dedicated myself to giving them what my father gave me; and if I can inspire someone to garden, the reward is even greater. Archives
