40 lbs. of potting soil from a local grocery store. It was located at the
entrance of the store and got my attention because the price was .99 cents.
The store also had cow manure. I am use to paying at least three or four times
as much for soil from Lowe’s or Home Depot. I did not buy it at the time
because I was thinking of getting it home and how that would be problem because
I had my four year old daughter with me. I decided to come back later. After talking to
another gardener, I was urged purchase as soon as possible because of the terrific price.
The gardener was right. When I went back to the store, it was no longer at the
entrance but was all the way to the right at the end of displays of firewood
wood. I still had not been able to coordinate with my spouse when he could come
and help put it in the back of the van. Then it occurred to me that I could ask
for help in the store. I ask the cashier and he said they were more than happy
to help. It took about ten minutes for me to pay for it because the soil kept ringing up at the
regular price.
However, when all was done, I paid for the soil, apologized
to the customer behind me for the delay. He said it was o.k. and that it had
been that kind of day for him. I went to my van with my four year old and pulled the van closer to the store and a young man and woman together loaded the six bags into the van. I was happy. My husband fretted about where to store it, but we ended up putting on the garage. I plan
to get some manure and peat moss and mix it together to make potting soil. This
should save money by doing it this way.
