The first photo in the slide show above is the White House Garden. Former First Lady Michelle Obama stated that it is roughly 1100 sq. ft. and cost just over $200.00 to plant.

My father was a gardener and no doubt, that’s where I gained my love for vegetable gardens. His gardens covered about three times the space of the White House Garden (WHG). So, I was accustomed to the pleasure of walking down the rows of a garden, particularly the corn rows, early in the morning while the dew was still on the grass, listening to the breeze playing music with the long green blades of the stalks.

​Now, fast forward to adulthood, marriage, two girls who love to have fun and now living in urban areas. So now I am learning to garden in raised beds with soil I purchase from the local garden nursery. It’s a process and I would like to share it with you. Please feel free to browse the site.



A Love for Gardening

                  Hi, I'm Bonita.  I'm  a former tax administrator, wife, mother and a gardener for most of my life. Everything I know about gardening, I learned from my father. After having my two daughters, I realized I needed to share this love of gardening with them and I want to share this love with everyone I meet. On this site I hope to inspire  everyone to take a chance on growing their own food. The experience is priceless.
